Agricultural Science

 

 

 

Course Description:

The Agricultural Science (Ag 1) course is designed to prepare students for careers in the broad field of agriculture.  Through instruction, students will attain the academic skills and knowledge related to agriculture to prepare them for successful entry into diverse agricultural science, business, and industry courses of study and/or workplaces. Topics of instruction may include, but are not limited to: agriculture and environmental science relationships; personal and agricultural business management; marketing and technology in agricultural science; computer technology in the world of agriculture; interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills; and parliamentary procedure and law.

   

Cost to setup and run labs and activities: Aprox. 5.00/student/semester

 
     

Floral Design

   

Course Description:

The Art & History of Floral Design course is designed to prepare students for prepare students for careers in the field of Floral Design and Interior Landscape Management. Through instruction, students will attain the necessary knowledge and skills related to floriculture to prepare them for successful entry into the diverse floral business and industry courses of study and/or workplaces. Topics of instruction may include, but are not limited to: an introduction to art and the impact of floral design; elements and principles of design; and basic floral design methods and techniques.

 
Average Cost Per Lab- $8 per student (Lab Fee Asked of Students- $40)    
   
     

Agricultural Biology

 
     

Course Description:

The Agricultural Biology course is a laboratory science course with an agricultural emphasis that covers the study of living things and meets the UC (a-g) and CSU laboratory science entrance requirements. Through instruction and laboratory experiments, students will attain the academic skills and knowledge related to agriculture, biology, and the scientific process. Topics of instruction may include, but are not limited to: cell biology; genetics; ecology; evolution; and physiology. Each of these topics will be covered with an agricultural emphasis.


 

Average Cost Per Lab $5 per student/semester
(Lab Fee Asked of Students- $30)

Labs will be very similar to those completed in Biology courses. However, they will be geared towards the world of agriculture.

 
   
     

Veterinary Science

 
     

Course Description:

The Veterinary Science course is designed to prepare students for careers in the broad field of veterinary medicine.  Through instruction, students will attain the academic skills and knowledge related to veterinary science and the workplace to prepare them for successful entry into diverse veterinary science courses of study and/or workplaces. Topics of instruction may include, but are not limited to: anatomy and physiology; tissue types and functions; systems of the body (skeletal, circulatory, reproductive, etc); nutrition; diseases and disorders; surgery and pharmacology; genetics; and career preparation.



 
 

Average Cost Per Lab- $2-5 per student (Lab Fee Asked of Students- $20)

Labs will teach students the basic techniques of veterinary science and prepare students for future employment in the veterinary industry.
